Intamcy Director

Rafael Untalan (AEA, SAG-AFTRA) is a professional actor, director, and an Associate Professor of Practice in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. As the Intimacy Director for Nebraska Repertory Theatre, he has choreographed intimacy for productions including Shakespeare’s R&J (directed by Joe Calarco), Bright Star (Robert Pieranunzi), Murder on the Orient Express (Brendon Fox), Tigers Be Still and POTUS (Lori Adams), The Importance of Being Earnest (Ian Borden), Sense and Sensibility, and Eurydice (David Long). Beyond the Repertory Theatre, his intimacy choreography credits include Flatwater Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost and The Turn of the Screw, as well as Lincoln Community Playhouse’s production of The Mountaintop. Rafael is committed to creating collaborative, consent-based rehearsal environments that support both artistic excellence and performer wellbeing.
